BoothIQ launches to help bodyshops cut energy costs and carbon

Early results show BoothIQ delivering measurable savings, reduced CO₂ per job and improved spraybooth efficiency without major capital investment.
BoothIQ launches to help bodyshops cut energy costs and carbon

We announced our official market launch of BoothIQ, spraybooth utility measuring and monitoring system, unveiled at the recent NBRA equipment expo.

The innovative platform delivers real-time visibility of electrical and gas consumption, enabling bodyshops to understand true operating costs and carbon output on a per job, per booth, or full-site basis. By turning complex energy data into clear, actionable insight, BoothIQ is designed to help businesses reduce expenditure while supporting increasingly important carbon-reduction targets.

Real-time data driving measurable savings

Early customer feedback following the launch has been overwhelmingly positive, with monitored sites already reporting meaningful performance improvements.

In one comparison study, a monitored STL spraybooth completed identical top-coat jobs £4.95 cheaper per job than a comparable competitor booth. While seemingly modest, this equates to £1,188 in annual savings based on a single weekday job across 48 working weeks.

Live access to BoothIQ data allows bodyshop managers to prioritise work into the most cost-effective booth, identify energy-use patterns, and implement small operational changes that accumulate into significant long-term savings.

Lower emissions without major investment

Environmental performance gains are also being demonstrated in real-world conditions. Monitoring data from a recent installation showed CO₂ emissions of 20.7 kg per job, compared with 29.7 kg from a comparable booth on the same site — representing a 30% reduction in emissions driven by lower electricity and gas consumption.

Crucially, BoothIQ can be fully retrofitted to existing spraybooths and expanded to capture wider site energy usage, removing the need for costly equipment replacement and making energy monitoring accessible to businesses of all sizes.

Unlocking productivity through insight

Operational efficiency improvements are another emerging benefit. Data gathered from monitored top-coat processes revealed a seven-minute reduction in cycle time per job compared with a competitor booth. Over a standard working year, this equates to 28 hours of additional booth availability, creating capacity for around 20 extra jobs annually without extending working hours or increasing labour.

Making Sustainability Practical

Industry misconceptions often suggest that energy efficiency requires major capital investment or disruptive operational change. However, real-time monitoring technologies such as BoothIQ demonstrate that small, data-driven adjustments can deliver immediate financial and environmental impact.

By providing accurate, granular insight into energy consumption, BoothIQ enables businesses to uncover hidden waste, optimise scheduling, and take practical steps toward sustainability with confidence.
