Strong links with MAAS Aviation maintained after airport hangar refurbished

One of the things we pride ourselves on at STL is the amount of repeat business we get.

We strike up good working relationships with our clients, ensure the bespoke work meets specification and deadline and then we are often asked to carry out and complete further projects. This was recently the case with MAAS Aviation…

Earlier this year, we played an integral role in the company opening a second aircraft painting services facility at its European headquarters at Maastricht Aachen Airport.

We have built a strong reputation for meeting the diverse needs of the specialised industry’s clients including Ministry of Defence, GKN, Airbus, BAE Systems and GE Aviation. This particular three-month project saw us design and install a new hangar which would double the capacity of MAAS Aviation’s work in Maastricht. It was also followed by a second project to refurbish an existing hangar, to bring it into line with the new one next door. This saw us liaise closely with MAAS over design in terms of minimising all potential dust traps within the existing hangar and giving them vastly improved airflow and a fully controlled environment.

We also now have remote access to the site which means we can upgrade systems and investigate any fault-finding – despite the fact we are based some 575km away! The project went well, although we were hit at the 11th hour when we had an issue with our supply chain and we had to quickly find an alternative supplier. Our list of preferred partners meant this was a hurdle that was quickly overcome, and we were able to ensure a successful completion and a happy customer.
