Project overview

The customer aimed to modernise their production facility and replace ageing NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) equipment. The objective was to enhance productivity, ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards, and provide a more visually appealing and functional workspace for their team and visiting clients.

The challenge

The project required a highly specialised spraybooth system to meet exacting requirements, including NADCAP approval standards. Key challenges included:

  • A dye penetrant booth with dual-source lighting (white and UV) and an integrated drainage system

  • A drying oven designed for vertical loading, a new product that would be developed specifically for the customer

  • A “developer” dust storm coffin, again requiring new technology to be developed and understood for operational effectiveness

  • Ensuring the entire installation complied with quality, safety, and environmental standards while integrating seamlessly into the existing production layout

Meeting these technical requirements demanded a bespoke approach to booth design, lighting, airflow, and process integration.

STL delivered a fully customised installation tailored to the customer’s exact specifications:

  • 1 × 7m x 3.5m x 2.5m STL Spraymate with data recorder for traceable quality control

  • 1 × 6.6m x 2.5m x 2.5m Dye Penetrant Booth featuring dual-source lighting (white and UV) and integrated drainage

  • Drying Oven: 6000mm x 600mm x 1200mm, cabinet-style for vertical loading, supporting new product development

  • Developer Dust Storm Coffin: 6000mm x 900mm x 1300mm, incorporating newly developed technology
