STL designed and installed a completely bespoke, fully electric Cyclone side-extract spraybooth for Penske Porsche in Germany.
The booth was installed on the first floor of the cosmetic repair facility. The project required a solution that could integrate into the existing building while providing the controlled environment needed for high-quality vehicle refinishing.
As a fully electric system, the Cyclone also provides an alternative to gas-fired heating. This forms part of STL’s wider approach to developing efficient, electrically powered spraybooth systems.
The installation presented several significant constraints. The available ceiling height was very low, while a large number of existing building services already occupied the space.
This left limited room for the ventilation system and created a complex route between the booth and the building’s existing infrastructure. Every part of the installation needed careful consideration before work could begin.
The challenge was not simply to make the system fit. The ventilation design also needed to support the booth’s performance while working around the existing services.
With so little room for adjustment once installation was underway, accurate planning was essential. The team needed to resolve the routing and identify potential clashes during the design stage rather than on site.
We used detailed 3D modelling of the building to plan the installation before work began. By modelling the available space and existing services, the team could assess different routing options and identify the optimum solution.
This approach allowed the ventilation system to follow a carefully planned route through the available space. It also reduced the risk of unexpected issues during installation and ensured the system could integrate cleanly with the existing building.
The finished Cyclone is fully electric and incorporates remote monitoring technology. This gives our team in the UK remote access to key system information, allowing software updates, performance monitoring and diagnostics to take place without the need for every issue to be addressed on site.
