NBJ Ltd is a high-end joinery manufacturer producing premium finished products. As the business continued to grow, the client identified the need to enhance their finishing capability to better support production volumes, finish quality, and operational efficiency.
The project focused on transitioning from a legacy spray arrangement, typical of many facilities within the sector, to a modern, fully enclosed spray environment with controlled airflow and filtration.
The challenge
The existing paint area was located within a restricted working envelope, and it was essential that production could continue throughout the project. Any new installation therefore needed to be carefully planned to integrate into the available space while minimising disruption to day-to-day operations.
In addition, the client required improved environmental control within the spray process to support consistent, high-quality finishes and better energy management.
The solution
STL delivered two new rear wall extract, fully enclosed spray booths, along with a dedicated Paint Mixing Room. This new arrangement provided a controlled spraying environment, with all incoming air fully filtered before entering the booths.
The solution introduced a clean, purpose-designed finishing space that supported both quality and efficiency, while fitting within the constraints of the existing workshop layout.

Installation highlights
The installation was completed while the client maintained production, requiring careful sequencing and coordination. Following the successful delivery of the new spray booths, NBJ Ltd engaged STL to modify and enhance their existing paint facilities, allowing them to remain in use for lower-grade finishing work while maintaining effective cost control.
The result
The new enclosed spray booths delivered a significantly improved spraying environment, supporting high-quality, right-first-time finishes. Improved control of airflow and heating allowed the client to better manage energy usage, with heating operating only when required by the process.
In addition to improved productivity and throughput, the client now benefits from a professional, purpose-built paint shop that reflects the quality of their products and can be confidently presented to prospective customers.
