Industry: Automotive bodyshop & accident repair
STL was appointed to remove an existing spraybooth and install a new, latest-generation STL spraybooth within the same location at an active automotive bodyshop. The project was delivered with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations and included full responsibility for site coordination, roof works, service connections, and installation management.
Alongside the physical installation, STL introduced its newly developed Data Logging system, providing clear, job-level visibility of spraybooth gas and electricity consumption.
The challenge
The project required the replacement of an existing spraybooth within a live bodyshop environment, demanding careful planning to minimise downtime and operational disruption.
In addition, the client required a single contractor to manage all aspects of the works, while gaining accurate insight into spraybooth operating costs. A key objective was to present energy usage data in a clear, accessible format to support informed operational and financial decision-making.
The solution
STL undertook the removal of the existing spraybooth and installed a new STL spraybooth within the same footprint, maintaining continuity of operations throughout the project.
To meet the requirement for cost transparency, STL’s engineering team developed and implemented STL Data Logging. The system combines dedicated software with a programmable logic controller (PLC) to capture real-time gas and electricity consumption. Data is presented via a secure, web-based interface, allowing clear visibility of spraybooth operating costs on a per-job basis.
The same Data Logging system was also retrofitted to an existing older spraybooth on site, ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting across both new and legacy equipment.
