WG Tankers required a bespoke spray booth to support the respraying and refurbishment of 28-metre rail carriages at their Eastleigh depot. The new facility needed to support commercial contract work for Arriva Rail while integrating into an existing operational rail environment.
The challenge
The Eastleigh depot presented a highly constrained working environment. The available space was limited and located within a live rail shed, with adjacent tracks required to remain operational following installation.
Accommodating a full-length rail carriage within these constraints required a carefully engineered solution that balanced performance, safety, and operational continuity.
The solution
A rear wall extract spray booth was designed and installed to maximise usable working length while minimising the overall footprint. This configuration provided effective airflow control and extraction performance without encroaching on adjacent tracks or disrupting existing depot layouts.
The booth was engineered specifically for the site, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into the rail shed without the need for major structural modifications.
